Free Yoga Classes, Ayurveda, and Other Great Stuff

Yoga Today: A new, free streaming one-hour yoga class every single day, from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Soon you'll be able to buy archived classes for download.

Yogaspirit.ca: Great audio lectures and workshops, including a list of free offerings. They offer CECs (continuing education credits). A great way for teachers to learn more on your own time when you can't attend classes.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: Online, in their entirety.

Eoin Finn: The home of Eoin Finn, a very cool power yoga instructor who offers some great, free mp3 classes. I love his relaxed attitude about yoga, and his DVDs are great... I highly recommend "Power Yoga for Happiness."

Sadie Nardini: The Om Diva and power yoga goddess extraordinaire. From her site you can find links to her free yoga videos and her audio classes on iAmplify. I highly recommend the Handstand Transformer. It's magic, kids!

Elsie Escobar (Elsie's Yoga Kula): Delightful Anusara instructor with a great live class podcast.

Hillary Rubin: Another Anusara instructor who offers live class recordings on her podcast.

Yogadownload.com: Very reasonably priced audio classes in varying lengths and styles with great audio production (not live).

Fran's House of Ayurveda: If you're interested in learning about the traditional Indian system of medicine, diet, and other self-care, this is a great place to start.

Food

Everyday Vegetarian: I love this foodie's blog. She posts great pictures and a lot of good tips as well. She's working on a cookbook, and I can't wait to read it.

The Post-Punk Kitchen: I'm not a vegan, but Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero make vegan cooking accessible and fun, with their public-access show, awesome recipes, and three great cookbooks.

Cooking Light: Their magazine and Web site are my most-used resources.

My best vegetarian recipes: And I'll keep adding to these periodically.

Stephanie Quigley: Raven Yoga Shala, Juneau, Alaska. My teacher.

Thomas Fortel: Big Sur, California.

More Resources

An in-depth study published in Yoga Journal on the the physical benefits of yoga in comparison with traditional aerobics and weight training. On that same note, another study that found that intense vinyasa yoga can burn 9 calories a minute.

Yoga.com: Forums for every style and preference.

Rainforest Yoga: Juneau, Alaska.

sarawhitney.net: My Web site design and editing business.

Yoga Dancer Designs: Incredible, huge yoga photo gallery. She includes some photos of me somewhere in there.

Ashtanga Yoga Info: German site with a comprehensive photo section. He includes more transitional photos and information than I do. Probably the best ashtanga reference online.

Sri K. Pattabhi Jois: The official site of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the father of ashtanga yoga.

Ashtanga.net: American ashtanga master David Swenson. The place to start for ashtanga DVDs.

Videofitness: Great general information plus forum for people who exercise at home... has a large yoga community.

Fitness Organica: Hard-to-find yoga DVDs.
